How do OSPREY partnerships work?

No upfront cost assessment of the baseline performance and natural capital opportunities of your land

At no upfront cost we articulate the baseline performance of your land area’s natural capital assets and their ecosystem services to help landowners identify the highest impact economic, ecological and social opportunities.

We quantify carbon sequestration and biodiversity uplift forecasts, balancing timber requirements.

We can also identify and engage stakeholders and community, vital for high integrity nature credit schemes.
This baseline forms the basis for land management actions and plans, alongside ongoing monitoring of natural capital uplift.

Stakeholder and community engagement

Recent policy publications and guidelines shaping the development of Scotland’s natural capital market ensure that community benefits are integral to natural capital projects and high integrity nature credit schemes.

Both the UK and Scottish Governments are developing key frameworks, standards and wider guidance to underpin community interests in natural capital markets. We are an active part of co-designing these tools, and our team has wide expertise in participative practices.

We also work to establish long term relationships with local contractors, mapping opportunities for generating social, economic and environmental returns from natural assets.

Land management actions and plans

Following a comprehensive ecological assessment and evaluation of your land, we co-develop land management actions and plans to uplift biodiversity and carbon. We will regularly adjust these to reflect ongoing monitoring and to maintain alignment with our partnership objectives.

Project registration, data-driven insights, reporting and third party verification

We can apply for available grants and manage project registration.

We establish long-term partnership relationships with local contractors, create new jobs, and create data-driven landholding overviews. This enables our team to analyse and verify tangible progress, and present transparent insights for reporting and third-party verification.

Ongoing training and development

We provide OSPREY partners with ongoing training and access to the science and community teams’ rewilding and community engagement expertise to ensure long-term application of best practices.

We are keen to help other rewilding and natural capital projects benefit from our experience and accelerate their pathways to carbon sequestration and biodiversity uplift. As such, we offer a cost-effective, service for partner projects where everyone benefits:

You pay no upfront cost for the data acquisition on your estate, and we will share our findings with you.
We receive a share of any eventual natural capital net profits, in return for our initial investment.
