Embedding community benefit in high integrity nature restoration
Recent policy publications and guidelines shaping the development of Scotland’s natural capital market ensure that community benefit and inclusion are integral to natural capital projects. The Land Reform and Agriculture and Rural Communities Bills are changing requirements for many landowners, affecting the way land is managed.
Both the UK and Scottish Governments are developing key frameworks, standards and wider guidance to underpin community interests in natural capital markets. We are an active part of co-designing these tools, including through the Scottish Natural Capital Market Framework Advisory Group, the Community Inclusion Standard, and BSI Flex 705.
We work closely with policy and sector experts to ensure our practice remains informed by practical insights and guidance. On the ground, community engagement is a core part of OSPREY partnerships, and our team has wide expertise in community development and participative practices.
