Every year, the Foundation selects two laureates, individuals, or organizations who have made significant contributions to the resolution of global environmental problems.

Jeremy has won the award for his work over the years on carbon, solar and most recently nature. He will be injecting all the prize money into Highlands Rewilding and our ongoing efforts to help scale nature recovery to the extent needed if global biodiversity collapse is to be reversed.

In the words of Julia Longbottom, the British Ambassador to Japan:

“….The Blue Planet Prize honours individuals whose work embodies scientific excellence, visionary leadership, and practical action. Dr Leggett exemplifies all these qualities. His legacy is one of tangible impact—on policy, markets, and the landscapes we call home. Highlands Rewilding named Blue Earth Top 100 company

October 13th 2025

We are delighted to have been included in the Blue Earth list of the 100 top companies "transforming the way the world works.” This “BE 100” list was drawn up from thousands of candidates by a review panel consisting of Blue Earth partners including HSBC and Innovate UK, and a panel of venture capital companies.

Of the 100, only four were classified in the nature, nature-based services or natural capital sectors. That shows how much of a frontier we are still on. And it reinforces our determination to play a lead role in helping our nascent industry break through to scale.

Both Bunloit and Beldorney have become accredited with Wildlife Estates Scotland, promoting best practice in wildlife and habitat management. Gaining accreditation involves the close assessment of an estate and its management against the following criteria:

  • Commitment to best practice

  • Adoption of wildlife and habitat management plans that underpin best practice

  • Maintaining species and habitats records

  • Conservation and collaborative work

  • Integration with other land management activities (such as farming, forestry and tourism)

  • Social, economic and cultural aspects (such as employment, community engagement and communications)

Accreditation is based on the combined score achieved for each of these sections, a qualitative assessment of management and site visits, all of which are conducted by an objective, external assessor. We are delighted to have received this accreditation at both Bunloit and Beldorney and look forward to applying for Tayvallich’s accreditation, once work is underway.
